Here at Woody's Free Range we are always keen to meet like minded people who are interested in working with us on our journey to promote ethical meat eating.
Woodys Free Range is an ethically minded Free Range pig farm and Butchery based in Levin. We process whole pigs, goats and beef into innovative small goods, Salami and Charcuterie. At the moment we have the following vacancies but we are happy to hear from anyone with something to give.
CURRENT VACANCIES
BUTCHER
We are looking for a self starting butcher (male or female) who wants to learn and teach new skills and methods. This person should be innovative, ethically minded and wanting to push the business forward. Working alongside our Master Butcher and two other butchers we have an informal workplace but we work hard and require a high level of fitness and energy.
Skills and Experience level is important to us but more important is the willingness to join our team and our mission to promote ethical meat eating. Ideally you will have experience working in a busy butchery team (or alone), meeting deadlines and building relationships. Whether you have gained experience in the meat works, in a supermarket or learning the trade via apprenticeship and hours we want to hear from you.
We are not in a hurry to fill this position, we are looking for the right applicant and will be willing to wait to find the perfect fit for our mission, our business and our team.

APPRENTICE BUTCHER or PACKER/SLICER
Looking for a career, or just a change? Interested in meat and butchery? Want to learn from the most innovative butchery team in NZ? Working alongside our Master Butcher and two other butchers we will train you how to use butchery machinery, break down a carcass, make salami and bacon, produce sausages. Best of all the qualification is free and you get paid to learn. If you are not sure about an apprenticeship we are also happy to employ you as a packer/slicer and see if you like the job before committing to a new career.
We need people with the right attitude who will start at the bottom and grow as we grow, no job is too small for any of our team and you will fully understand this. You will be start mainly slicing bacon, ham and other small goods. Packaging, labelling and dating. Working to deadlines and according to sales reports.
